Windows Vista

Is anybody else looking forward to Vista?
Incidently, Vista does not stand for...
Viruses
Instability
Spyware
Trojans
Addware.

Not me. But I am anxously awaiting the next release of Slackware Linux. =]

I can see why many Windows users are looking forware to it though. 64 bit support and eye candy. Mmmmmm. Almost makes me want to....nah. =]

I've got a question for Linux users.
What do you do when you need to run Microsoft Excel, or Access files?

That's an amusing one.

For those who don't know, we've been tracking interesting word verification strings in Blogger. Sometimes, the words don't seem very random.

Gnumeric ( a gnome spread sheet ) loads excel spreadsheets just fine. So do a number of other opensource spreadsheet programs.

Access ? I've never tried.

However, I do have a program called Win4Lin that runs Win98 in a window on my desktop. I have Office 2000 installed for when I REALLY need to use an office app.

That was a good question though.

I always like spending $200 every 2-3 years to get an updated, really cool graphic for my computer.

I found this function of vista rather humorous.

Bet they don't let that message come up in the final version.

Hmm, that didn't work so well.

Oh well, check out www.gizmodo.com and do a search for "vista's worst perfomer" if you want to see the post

I used to be a Mac guy.
Macs were cool, but I always had trouble working between Home and work.
Excel and Word files were no problem, but when I started using Access at work, there was no way to cross platforms.
I gave up on the Mac years ago.
Linux sounds fun to learn, but whithout Access I don't want to take the leap at home, and there is no chance in H-E-double hockey sticks of using Linux at work.
I still use Access daily and I love it.
