Browser
Have you been using Firefox?
It is simply the best.
I like the fact that you can hold the control button down when you click a hyperlink.
The linked webpage opens in a tab beneath the page that you are reading. This allows you to view the linked page on your own time.
I also like the way it blocks pop ups.
I like Favicons too.
They are little icons that are on the left hand side of the URL.
They also show up in the Bookmarks.
I don't know why but my Internet Explorer (version 6.0) doesn't show them.

I've been using Firefox since it was in beta and I'm glad to see it going mainstream. I used several browsers that came with the Gnome desktop that had the features that firefox has but they were not available for Windows.
Now Windows users can enjoy features that Linux users have been using for a while now (tabbed browsing, personal tool bar bookmarks, etc.) and and I think its about time.
I'd also like to recommend the Thunderbird mail client. It'll relieve you of those Outlook/Outlook Express security woes.

I tried Thunderbird, but was not nearly as impressed as I was with Firefox.
Perhaps I'll give it another shot.
OK, you guys are right. This is a pretty cool browser.
One thing to keep in mind.
Many sites (read Microsoft)are designed to work in IE only.
I used to use Netscape, but I have a feeling that the best and brightest from Mozilla helped make Firefox as good as it is. Netscape seems bloated and clunky, but maybe that's just me?

Depending on which mail client you are using, Thunderbird may not meet your needs. I usually recommend this for security reasons only because I am the family geek and I'm the one who gets the calls when computers slow down from malware/virus infections. It gets a bit old. Before Firefox was released I installed Mozilla on my mother's computer for those same security reasons. She didn't care for the unfamiliar interface and didn't want me to install it again after a reinstall (likely because of those same security reasons)that she did.
Yes, Netscape was/is a bloated program, but still has its uses. I like the webpage builder in Mozilla and thats the only reason I still launch that program. Use the 'wizzy-wig' interface to build the basic page and hand code the rest. But still, when i need a web browser, Firefox is definately leaner and meaner.
Netscape opening up the source code for thier product and the many great people who gave many hours of thier own time to this project has been a boon for the web community. I for one appreciate them all.
