I agree the cell phone market is aimed at entertainment only. How about adding a feature that would allow your phone to double as a remote TV controller, or garage door opener, and others.
The current range of options are geared up for the providers to make money via ringtones, music etc...
The things I listed would be one time purchases and will not happen until a non-provider developed them.
Garage door opener? That's a really interesting idea.
Although, I'm not so sure about putting secure information on a cell phone: credit card info, access codes, etc. Do you know how many people misplace their cell phone?
